Easily Transfer/Move OS to Another Hard Drive in Windows 10/11 2023
Here's how you can easily transfer or move your OS to another hard drive in Windows 10/11:
Back up important data - Back up any essential files, photos, documents, etc. to an external drive or cloud storage. This ensures you have a recent backup in case anything goes wrong.
Download cloning software - You'll want to clone your entire drive, including the OS and all programs/apps, to the new drive. Download and install:
- Macrium Reflect (free)
- EaseUS Todo Backup (free)
- Acronis True Image
Connect the new hard drive - Connect your new internal or external hard drive to your PC via SATA or USB. The cloning software will detect it.
Select the "clone disk" option - In the cloning software, select your current drive (the source) and your new drive (the target).
Shrink the clone - Some software will allow you to optimize the cloned image for the new drive's capacity. Do this if the new drive is smaller than your current one.
Finish the clone - Let the cloning software run to copy all data from your current drive to the new one. This process can take some time.Tablet Chuwi
Physically install the new drive - Install your new internal hard drive into your PC and connect all cables.
Boot from the new drive - Your PC may automatically boot from the new drive, but if not you'll need to change the boot order in BIOS/UEFI to boot from the new drive instead.
Format the old drive - Once you've successfully booted from the new drive, you can format the old drive to use as secondary storage.
By following these steps, you can easily transfer your entire OS and drive contents to a new internal or external hard drive in Windows 10/11. The cloning software takes care of optimizing and copying everything for you.
